Not sure where you sit on the skill ladder? Here’s a quick guide to surfer levels to help you choose the right surf class in Lanzarote:
- Beginner Level 1 — I’ve never surfed before.
- Beginner Level 2 — I can get to my feet and ride broken (whitewater) waves under control.
- Intermediate Level 1 — I can ride broken waves, paddle out, and occasionally catch unbroken waves.
- Intermediate Level 2 — I can paddle out, catch unbroken waves, and ride both left and right, trimming across the wave face.
- Advanced Level 1 — All of the above, plus a basic bottom turn.
- Advanced Level 2 — All of the above, with controlled bottom turns and top turns.
- Expert — Linking turns, performing cutbacks, and riding the full length of the wave.
